Welcome to True North Breathwork Atelier

Amelie Drouin, RN (RIPRN), B.NSc, B. Ed.

Hello, Bonjour!

I am Amelie, a Registered Nurse (Rural & Isolated Practice), Breathwork Instructor and Trauma Sensitive clinician.

Why Breathwork?

I guide carers of humans to release overwhelm, find their True north and life flow through Breathwork. In line with the Art of Whole-istic Nursing approach (head to toe), my clients can achieve real physical, emotional, spiritual wellness.

I value science and research behind holistic methods to improve overall health. Together we heal and regulate the nervous system, we use somatic modalities to release the trauma and trapped emotions we store in our bodies.

My Story

I trained as a teacher and educator in my home country of Canada in 2001. After an epiphany that I wanted to help others and serve my light to the world in a different way, I became a Registered Nurse in 2017.

The intensity of healthcare pushed me to exhaustion; after consulting with surgeons and traditional medicine without improvements, I found integrative ways to heal my gut health. I then rewired my mindset & explored holistic methods to regulate my nervous system, manage my chronic stress symptoms and nourish my soul.

After witnessing real-life trauma and pain, death and distress as a nurse in the Emergency department for 3-4 years, I discovered fascinating scientific research and theories on Trauma. I decided to study trauma and the nervous system more in-depth, Breathwork for trauma release, and holistic approaches that soothed the wrinkles of life.

I explored and healed things I didn't know impacted me like healthcare-related trauma, ancestral wounds and old baggage, or birth trauma. Today I continue to peel the layers off & focus on my essence and a deeper spiritual life within.

How Nursing assists guiding my Breathwork clients?

What working in acute medical environments taught me:

Palliative care & Paediatrics:

True Presence to the human in front of me.

Mental health emergencies:

Holding a SAFE SPACE is often all that is needed.

Emergency and Acute Wards:

Physical trauma affects the emotional and spiritual being. â€‹

I promote non-violent healthcare environments, because as clinicians we deserve respect, wellbeing and calm in our work and personal lives... if we are to serve others with empathy and heart.

Breathwork practice is the Art of consciously taking control of the breath. Rooted in ancient methods from Tibet (tummo breath), India (pranayama), China (qigong), Mongolia, Africa, South America, to more modern approaches like Wim Hof, Rebirth and holotropic styles; breathwork is a powerful method to achieve holistic wellness for humans.
